2016 Calgary Auto & Truck Show

I was able to attend the 2016 Calgary Auto & Truck Show with a couple of friends, we had fun talking about cars, where and what angles to take a picture of, and essentially just enjoy the cars that are being show cased.

First up, the Mitsubishi Evolution Final Edition. Now I personally don't know why Mitsubishi is discontinuing the Evolution, there are even rumors that they are being outsold by Subaru, or that Mitsubishi is going in a different direction - specifically the family vehicles route. For whatever reason this particular series of vehicles that came out of 'The Land of the Rising Sun' will surely be missed by all car enthusiasts and gear heads alike.

The Nissan GTR R35 made its debut in 2007. Since then it's been making heads turn, enthusiasts go crazy, and having the Italians get a run for their money. Fast forward to 2016 it's still doing the same, a few updates and facelifts here and there, and a lap in the Nurburgring, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Moving away a little bit from the high performance cars to a more practical and family friendly. The 2016 Chevrolet Malibu. My friends and I didn't realize it was a Malibu until we actually saw the logo, the name, at the rear. We were surprised it looked more European and that it was totally different from the previous models. It's a great update for sure, and if I was looking to downsize from and SUV to a sedan this will definitely be in the top 5 of my list to consider purchasing. Great job Chevy!

The Lotus Exige LF1 Special Edition. My friends personal favourite and dream car. This same car was show cased as well from the last years show and it makes another appearance this year, and honestly I think it should be showcased every year until they come out with a new update or version. There are lots to say about this car from it's lightweight carbon fiber body all they way through how it corners on the most difficult tracks in the world. But you can ask Google for those information, for now let's bask at it's awesomeness.

BMW M4 GTS in matte metalic grey. An eye catcher for sure just from the body paint/vinyl itself to the contrasting orange accent on its wheel and front spliter. We were wondering how BMW achieved the tail light effects of 'plates,' well that because they are plates made from some kind of transparent material while lights are reflected directly (I guess) from the bottom (?)

Finally, the McLaren P1. Now I know it's a gorgeous car and has more curves than most cars I've encountered but unfortunately I've only got the abstract and engine bay shots since the representative of the booth seemed disengaged from having a conversation with non-clients. Luckily behind the booth was enough space to get close so...

Bonus! Sometimes when you and your friends are hungry, you walk great distances (1.7 km to be exact) to get food after long hours of walking around looking at cars. Close by the burger joint we were going to eat we spotted this Beetle. Dark, lights, and a classic icon. You know what's going through my head? Light trails!
