Every year during the holidays and once December rolls in, everyone in Calgary knows about the Calgary Zoo Lights. The zoo is transformed into a magical winter wonderland and Christmas lights take over the city’s night sky. My family and I haven’t gone for a few years now but this time is different because we have coupons for the whole gang! A friend of ours got tickets from their work but weren’t able to use them since they are out of town. To add to the excitement, the weather was just perfect for this at -5℃!
A huge ‘ZooLights’ sign at the front of the entrance is already a photo opp that the kids can’t miss. Once we walked through the gate we were immediately greeted with Christmas carols playlist blasting from the zoo’s speakers. There was already a crowd forming so we just decided to go with the flow and after a few minutes we realized we were at the dinosaur area of the Zoo. A few photos of the kids and we moved along to the rest of the night.
Light tunnels, different types of mammals, birds, and many Christmas themed characters light up the zoo. It was amazing to experience this again, and the kids had a great time! Their eyes sparkled with excitement and had the best time and having fun!
