Chichén Itzá

These were taken during our vacation in Cancun. It was part of a local tour that emphasizes on the many culltural impoortance of Mexico.
From our resort in Puerto Morelos our family had to take a bus that carries tourists to Yucatan. I can't remember how long the drive was but it was a significant time. Ofcourse there were other stops and tour guides showing the local lifestyle and how they manage to have a living catering to tours and showcasing their culutre. Mind you their ancestry traces back to the Mayans 5,100 years ago!
Seeing the Pyramid of Kukulcan, El Castillo was just an amazing experience and I was speechless when I saw it! For over 5 millennia the culutre has remained a portal to ancient times. I've read them in books, and known about the Mayans in school & studying the ancient world in Social Studies. Actually seeing it, and getting to touch the walls of their coloseum was a mind blowing experience!
