Sun, Cenotes, and Family Fun: Our Puerto Morelos Adventure
We just got back from an unforgettable family trip to Puerto Morelos, and I can honestly say—it was the perfect mix of fun, relaxation, and adventure with the kids.
We stayed at Ocean Coral & Turquesa Resort, which couldn’t have been more family-friendly. The kids loved the pools (they’d have happily stayed there all day), and we appreciated the spacious rooms and the easygoing vibe. Having kid-friendly dining options right at the resort made life so much easier, though we still snuck away to try some local spots. The marquesita vendor in Valladolid during our tour was a highlight—crispy, sweet, and so fun to watch being made right on the street.
One of the big highlights was visiting Chichen Itza. Standing in front of the famous Kukulcán pyramid felt surreal, like stepping into history. Even the kids were wide-eyed, asking questions about the ancient Mayans. Despite the extreme heat and high humidity, seeing the ancient Mayan site was mind blowing!
We also took a snorkeling trip out to Isla Mujeres—the water was crystal clear, and we spotted colorful fish everywhere. It felt like swimming in an aquarium! The kids loved splashing around while we soaked up the beauty of it all.
To bring a little taste of the trip home, we’ve been recreating some of the cocktails we enjoyed at the resort. A tequila sunrise, a refreshing mojito, and fruity strawberry margaritas instantly take us back to warm nights by the ocean.
Puerto Morelos gave us adventure, culture, and plenty of family memories—we’re already dreaming about going back. 🌊✨
